Writing in Plain Language for Publications
10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
Please note this programme is subject to change. All timings for the virtual conference are in CET (Central European Time).
The use of plain language ensures clear and effective communication for readers, making it an important communication tool that improves the accessibility of peer-reviewed biomedical research for non-specialist audiences. However, while guidelines for plain language publications, such as plain language summaries are available, they do not provide detailed guidance for writing in plain language. This seminar brings together experts from across the medical publications community to provide practical recommendations and advice on plain language, including the:
- Definition and benefits of plain language
- Considerations for engagement with different audiences
- Importance of translation
- Different types of plain language output
- Relevant usage metrics
- Assistance and services that publishers provide.
Join moderator Andrea Bucceri (Lunanity) and expert panellists Caroline Halford (Springer), Felicity Poole (Taylor & Francis), Adeline Rosenberg (Pharmagenesis), Ana Sofia Correia (Freelance) and Hamish McDougall (Sage) for this seminar with interactive Q&A session.
